Is baking a potato in the air fryer as fast as baking one in the oven? Perhaps not, but it’s still worth it for a beautiful, crispy skin. It’s also helpful if you only need to bake a few potatoes, and can help free up space in your oven. Use evenly sized potatoes for consistent cook times. Rubbing the skins with salt and oil helps them get crispier and keep the inside of the potatoes moist. Eat them with sour cream, butter, chives, scallions, bacon, cheese, or whatever you’d top your baked potato with normally.
- Cooking spray
- 4medium-size (about 2 3/4 lb. total) russet potatoes, scrubbed
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional toppings: Sour cream, chives, cheese, and/or butter
How to Make It
Coat fry basket of a (5.3-qt.) air fryer with cooking spray. Coat potatoes evenly with cooking spray; rub with salt and pepper. Add to basket; cook at 400ºF until tender and skins are slightly crispy, about 50 minutes, turning once halfway through cook time. Remove potatoes from basket; let cool 5 minutes. Serve with desired toppings.
