It's safe to say that there hasn't exactly been a surplus of good news lately, so we're clinging to anything even remotely positive with both hands. In the past few days, the Friends fans among us have been given a couple of things to look forward to. The producers of the eagerly anticipated Friends reunion special told Variety that "if the stars align," then the unscripted event with all six of the show's stars might be able to go ahead later this summer. (Yeah, that's an absolutely massive and totally uncertain "if," but we'll take it.)
That was followed by the news that an official Friends cookbook will be released on September 22, which also marks twenty-six years since the show's first episode aired. (The show is now officially older than Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry were when they filmed the first season. You're welcome.)
According to the cookbook's description on Amazon, the cleverly named Friends: The Official Cookbook contains more than 50 recipes inspired by the show's 10 seasons, and it has more than 70 recipes overall. "Whether you’re a seasoned chef like Monica Geller, just starting a catering business like Phoebe Buffay, or a regular old food enthusiast like Joey Tribbiani, Friends: The Official Cookbook offers a variety of recipes for chefs of all levels," it promises. (And yes, each recipe has a little reminder of which Friends episode it references, just in case you want to stream the show while you eat.)
The recipes cover every course from appetizers to desserts, and it promises to bring back some of your favorite memories from the show. Some of the "iconic treats" that it covers include Ross's gravy-soaked Moist Maker sandwich, Chandler's "Milk You Can Chew," and a Friendsgiving Feast that may or may not require you to break out your Thanksgiving Pants. It also promises to teach you how to make Phoebe's Grandmother's Cookies, but we're hoping that it isn't just a copied and pasted recipe from a package of Nesele Toulouse—er, Nestle Tollhouse—chocolate chips.

The book also includes the recipe for Rachel's traditional English trifle, and we're really curious to find out whether this version involves a layer of ladyfingers, a layer of jam, a layer of custard, then beef sautéed with peas and onions, followed by a layer of bananas. (Try not to let the cookbook's pages get stuck together. Just in case.)
The $29.99 cookbook is currently available for pre-order on Amazon, and we can't wait to see what other Friends-inspired recipes are scattered throughout its 144 pages. Hopefully Ross' fajitas made the cut, along with Monica's Christmas candy, and the not-meant-to-be edible macaroni-covered jewelry box from her childhood bedroom. Just don't bring the Mockolate into it because, as everybody knows, that's what evil must taste like.
