Everybody knows that Reese’s seasonal candies (eggs, pumpkins, trees, etc.) are better than the O.G. peanut butter cups. It’s just a fact. Candy aisles feel rather barren in the months between Easter and Halloween when holiday varieties aren’t available.
That’s why the company is freezing its eggs now—and a few lucky fans will be able to enjoy them this summer.
“We know our fans dread the end of Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs season,” said Jan Grinstead, Reese’s Easter manager. “So, we wanted to surprise them with a chance to get their hands on our iconic Eggs long after Easter.”
Reese’s social media channels will post a link to claim a 36-count batch of frozen eggs at 3 p.m. EST on Tuesday, April 16. Winners will receive their prizes this summer, when seasonal Reese’s products are nowhere to be found.
OK, listen: I am Reese’s biggest fan. I love those little peanut butter cups. I really do. But I’ve gotta say, this new promotion doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Not only is the tagline “WE’RE FREEZING EGGS” rather unfortunate, but can’t people just freeze their own candy?
It’s not like this is an unattainable treasure. Anyone with a freezer and $10 to spend on peanut butter cups can have it.
But I digress. This contest is first come, first reserve—so set your alarms now.
