Best diet plan: Cutting one food from your diet linked to weight loss and less belly fat

A certain diet has been linked to a slimmer figure and less belly fat. Cutting meat out of your diet may reduce belly fat and help with weight loss.

The study at the University Hospital of Leipzig analysed 9,000 vegetarians of ages and genders.

Vegetarianism was linked to a lower weight.

Not only that, but the less meat a person ate the lower their body mass index (BMI) was likely to be.

Evelyn Medawar, who put together the publication of the study, said: “Products that are excessively rich in fat and sugar are particularly fattening.

“They stimulate the appetite and delay the feeling of satiety.

“If you avoid animal foods, you consume fewer such products on average.

They went on: “People who eat predominantly vegetable foods may therefore absorb less energy.”

What is more, the sort of animal product eaten is linked to higher BMI.

For example eating meat is linked more often to higher BMI than eating eggs, cheese and dairy.

The study found: “A person with a 1.2 point lower BMI on average either completely avoids certain animal products, such as the primary ones, and is on a vegetarian diet. Or she continues to eat meat and fish, but less often.”

The NHS said of a vegetarian diet: “It’s important to vary what you eat. Some nutrients are found in smaller amounts in vegetarian sources, or are less easily absorbed by the body than those in meat or fish.

“Contrary to popular belief, most vegetarians usually have enough protein and calcium (found in dairy products) in their diet.

“But if you don’t plan your diet properly, you could miss out on essential nutrients. For example, vegetarians need to make sure they get enough iron and vitamin B12 in their diets.”

Another weight loss method that has been popular is the juice detox diet.

A nutritional expert gave her thoughts to “For a 14 day shred, your diet is incredibly important, many dieticians and nutritionists agree that diet comprises 80 percent of a person’s body type. Start with juicing for 3 days. Juicing is an excellent way to shock your body into ‘energy mode’.

“When done properly, a juice cleanse will rid the digestive tract of all ‘junk’ that would otherwise be stored as fat. It will also provide your body with the energy it needs in order to function, and flush the excess out as waste.”

Lisa says a juice detox can be achieved in two ways.

She said: “Either buy a juice cleanse pack from a local juice shop, OR purchase your own juicer at the grocery store. Each day, drink 5 juices spread out between breakfast, mid-morning, lunch, afternoon snack and pre-dinner juice. End each day with a small meal of green vegetables.”

The keto diet is also hugely popular for weight loss.

The keto diet is a high fat diet, with up to 80 percent of calories coming from fat.

There is one specific type of fat to avoid.

Jane Michell, a nutritionist and founder of diet programme Jane Plan, explained exclusively to Express: “Trans fats, which contain hydrogenated fats and hydrogenated oils, are waging war on our waist, because of the way our body metabolises this type of fat.”
