Weight loss is not easy and requires dedication and lifestyle changes. Coronation Street star Colson Smith has opened up on his transformation.

Diet and exercise are both vital for anyone hoping to shift the pounds.

A healthy routine is also key for maintaining weight loss results.

Someone who knows all about positive lifestyle changes is Colson Smith.

The much-loved actor has played the role of Craig Tinker for 10 years.

In recent months, soap fans have noticed his new slim frame.

Colson has shared some details into how he got into shape.

What diet plan did he use?

Knowing the best diet to follow can be a challenge as it will not be the same for everyone.

Colson enlisted the help of a meal delivery service which prepared foods for him.

The actor shared details during an appearance on Good Morning Britain.

He said: “So I have my breakfast and lunches delivered.

“This means cooking, basically, I don’t have to think about. I can just eat.”

He first decided to lose weight at the end of 2019 and linked his transformation with his character storyline.

However, it was the coronavirus lockdown in 2020 that really helped Colson focus on his health.

“I started and then in March the world changed with lockdown,” he said during an appearance on ITV’s This Morning.

“It could have been the perfect excuse to knock it on the head.

“But for me it was the perfect opportunity to stop and refocus on what was important to me and what mattered to me.

“I learned a lot about myself and I enjoyed it.

“I realised it was more important for Colson than it was ever going to be for Craig.”

The 22-year-old said setting small goals helped to keep him motivated and on track.

“I just sat down and made little goals and those goals constantly changed. It’s just been an experience that I’ve really enjoyed.

“I realised how much self respect I had for myself verus how much I have for myself now.”

Colson now updates followers on social media with his exercise regime which involves running and gym sessions.

A recent Instagram post showed him working out in the gym and was captioned: “Finish the week strong.”
