Kate Middleton’s weight has not changed much since being hurled into the public eye when she wed Prince William in 2011. The Duchess is a size six. What diet does she follow?
The Duchess weighs around 8st 7lb and is a tiny size six, according to a royal source.
But how has she managed to stay slim over the years?
Although Kate has not confirmed her weight maintenance regime publicly, she reportedly has the Dukan diet to thank for her figure.
This diet consists of cutting almost all carbohydrates from one’s daily routine and replacing them with proteins, vegetables, and healthy fats.
The diet was created in the 1970s by Dr. Pierre Dukan, a French general practitioner who specialises in weight management.
According to Healthline, there are different phases to the diet, which leads to “rapid” weight loss.
The first phase takes place in the first week and consists of eating unlimited lean protein, as well as 1.5 tablespoons of oat bran per day.
The next phase, which takes place in the first year, is alternating lean protein one day with lean protein and non-starchy vegetables the next, plus two tablespoons of oat bran every day.

The third phase is called the Consolidation Phase, which should be followed every five days for every pound lost in phases one and two.
This phase consists of eating unlimited lean protein and vegetables, some carbohydrates and fats, one day of lean protein weekly, and 2.5 tablespoons of oat bran daily.
The last phase, which is indefinite, according to Healthline, involves following the Consolidation Phase guidelines but loosening the rules as long as a slimmer’s weight remains stable.
Oat bran is increased to three tablespoons per day.
As well as reportedly following the Dukan diet, the Duchess of Cambridge also makes sure to drink plenty of water during the day.
According to several nutritionists, including Dr Michael Mosley, staying hydrated throughout the day will “keep you feeling fuller for longer”, which can lead to weight loss.
As for her daily meal plan, Kate usually has a smoothie made of kale, spirulina, matcha, spinach, romaine, coriander leaves, and blueberries for breakfast, according to Mail Online – as well as a bowl of oatmeal.
For lunch, she reportedly eats raw and cold foods such as gazpacho, watermelon salads, tabouleh, and ceviche.
Kate also enjoys eating and cooking meat, including chicken.
This is according to royal writer Katie Nicholl, who wrote in 2010: “In the evenings, she [Kate] indulges her hobby of cooking William’s favourite supper, roast chicken.
“That’s their idea of the perfect night.”
Pasta is another meal the Cambridges enjoy.
During a visit to Lavender Primary School in Enfield in 2019, Kate mentioned cooking cheesy pasta with her children, according to People.com.
Teacher Matthew Kleiner-Mann told the news website: “She was telling us how much her children love cooking and how they cook for her.
“They made cheesy pasta the other day.
“One stirs the flour, one puts the milk and butter in. And they make salads and stuff.”
