Michael Ball and Alfie Boe perform Les Miserables songs in 2017

Weight loss is not easy to achieve no matter who is trying to lose a few pounds. Michael Ball has revealed the diet plan changes he made to help him get fit.

The singer is known for starring in theatre products including Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera and Hairspray.

Like many actors, he has had to change his weight for roles.

Michael revealed he gained weight to play Edna Turnblad in Hairspray on the West End.

However, he has notably slimmed down in the last few years and opened up about his results.

While he has stayed mostly tight-lipped on his transformation, he spoke about his success during an appearance on ITV’s Loose Women.

The singer was complimented on his visibly leaner frame on the show in 2018.

“I’ve got myself healthy,” Micheal told the presenters.

“I’ve really enjoyed it and the obvious advantages like if you go into shops you don’t have to go down to the expandable waist end. The energy on stage is great.”

Michael explained he felt fitter and healthier since losing a few pounds.

He also revealed he was inspired to get into shape after seeing himself on a big screen.

He added: “I was doing some summer gigs and we’ve got enormous screens on either side of the stage.

“I looked up and thought ‘I’m not happy with the way that looks’.

“Like a load of people, it creeps up on you and suddenly you realise ‘I need to do something about this’ and you look at your lifestyle.”

What diet plan did he use?

There are lots of plans available promising quick results for those hoping to slim down.

Instead of following a structured plan, Michael explained he enlisted the help of a professional dietician.

The singer also looked at his own lifestyle for habits he could change.

He cut back on unhealthy treats and alcohol to lose a few pounds.

Michael tried to reduce snacking by leaving a gap between each meal.

“The best tip is to have five hours between each meal,” he added.
