Weight loss: Adding hot drink to your diet three times a day is linked to lower belly fat

Coffee has been said to have weight loss properties for some time. Now, a study has found drinking a certain amount of the hot drink is linked to less belly fat in women.

Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey showed a link between how many cups of coffee women drink a day and their total body fat and belly fat.

It found women aged between 20 and 44 who drank two or three cups of coffee a day had the lowest level of body fat.

In fact, their body fat was 3.4 percent lower than those who did not drink coffee.

Women aged 45 to 69 percent who drank four or more cups of coffee had an adiposity percentage of 4.1 percent lower than those who didn’t drink coffee.

Women who drank coffee, of any age, had an average body fat percentage 2.8 percent lower than women of any who didn’t.

Interestingly, the results were the same even if the coffee was decaffeinated.

Dr Lee Smith, the lead author of the study, said: “Our research suggests that there may be bioactive compounds in coffee other than caffeine that regulate weight and which could potentially be used as anti-obesity compounds.

“It could be that coffee, or its effective ingredients, could be integrated into a healthy diet strategy to reduce the burden of chronic conditions related to the obesity epidemic.

“It is important to interpret the findings of this study in light of its limitations – the study was at a specific point in time so trends cannot be established.

“However, we don’t believe that someone’s weight is likely to influence their coffee consumption.”

Another hot drink has been linked to weight loss too.

Green tea weight loss properties have been found in a number of studies.

The drink is thought to speed up the metabolism and help dieters feel full, leading to weight loss.

However, there is one time of the day that green tea is particularly effective.

Research suggests that drinking green tea may be especially beneficial just before exercising.

One study consisting of 12 men found that consuming green tea just before exercising increased fat burning by 17 percent compared to that with a placebo.

One person whose slim frame has always impressed fans is the Duchess of Cambridge.
