Aldi is best known for its budget groceries and cut-price Specialbuys, but now one of the brand’s products has been hailed as the key to losing weight. The Slim & Trim weight loss shakes have sparked headlines as people take to social media to reveal their weight loss success stories. Some dieters have reported losing up to 10 stone by replacing meals with the shakes.

The Slim & Trim shakes are available as single servings of 55g, in a sachet form.
The protein shake powder can be mixed with water for a quick and easy weight loss drink on the go, or mixed with milk for a more filling blend.
One 55g serving contains just 205 calories, making it easier for dieters to cut back when following a diet plan with a calorie deficit.
This means eating fewer calories than you burn in the day, by exercising more and consuming fewer than the usual recommended daily intake which is designed to help people maintain their weight.
The popular vegetarian-friendly shakes come in four flavours – vanilla, coffee, chocolate and strawberry – and they have topped polls among dieters who use weight loss shakes as part of their plan.
The individual sachets are 99 percent fat free, as well as being gluten-free and high in fibre; though it does contain 23.4g of sugar per serving, almost as much as a can of Coca-Cola.
However, while they may be sweet, the shakes are high in protein, which helps to keep you feeling fuller for longer.
This, together with the low calories, means they can help people on a diet to shed weight.

Aldi’s shakes have wowed Australian dieters who have revealed their incredible weight loss journeys after incorporating them in their daily diets.
Writing on the Aldi Mums Facebook page, one mum revealed her amazing weight loss transformation after using the shakes.
Jackie Burrows, 54, from Brisbane, went from a size 22 at 19 stone to a size 8/10 at just 9.7 stone over the course of 11 months.
She started by replacing her breakfast with the low calorie shakes, and then swapped them for her dinner too, having two a day to cut back on calories.

However, British dieters wanting to try it out for themselves will be disappointed as the shakes are not yet available in the UK.
So far the Slim & Trim shakes are only available in Aldi’s Australia stores.
However, meal replacement shakes are not new, with many other brands offering similar products in the UK.
The NHS provides information on different diets on its website, with pros and cons of following a meal replacement shake plan.
Covering controversial diets such as LighterLife and Slim Fast, the NHS provides balanced advice on whether the plans will work.
The British Dietetic Association (BDA) gives its verdict for each diet, after explaining what each one involves for those looking to lose weight.
It describes meal replacement diets as “hassle free” thanks to the way they take the guesswork out of meal planning, but there are cons involved too.
Commenting on the SlimFast plan, the BDA said: “On their own, meal-replacement diets do little to educate people about their eating habits and change their behaviour. There’s a risk of putting the weight back on again once you stop using the products.”
