Chana dal

Ingredients

  1. 2 cup chana dal or Bengal gram
  2. 1 big onion chopped
  3. 1 green chili chopped
  4. 1 tomato chopped
  5. 1 tablespoon ginger garlic estimated grated
  6. 1 tablespoon salt
  7. 1 tablespoon garam masala
  8. Half teaspoon black pepper powder
  9. 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  10. 1 teaspoon black mustard seeds
  11. 2-3 red hot peppers
  12. 1 teaspoon turmeric
  13. 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  14. Pinch ASAFETIDA

Steps

  1. Soak the lentil for 2 to 3 hours.i always recommend soaking bcuz it save fuel

  2. Now in a pressure cooker have 3 whistles

  3. Now for tadka,roast cumin seeds,red hot pepper and black mustard seeds together

  4. Add chopped onion and green chilli

  5. Make them brown and add tomatoes with all the spices

  6. Let stir until it spreads oil all around

  7. Add it to boiled dal and boil ready dal for 10 minutes to mix tadka properly

  8. Dal is ready garnish with coriander leaves or kasoori methi
