General Tso’s Chicken is a sweet deep fried chicken dish that is commonly served in Northern American Chinese restaurant. This recipe is a combination from some fellows here. Very delicous and rich in flavour.
Ingredients
- 4 skillets chicken (cut diced)
- 5 dried chillies (cur half)
- 1 spring onion (thinly sliced)
- Cooking oil
- Marinade (min 30 minutes)
- Chicken
- 1 tbsp light soy sauce
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tbsp all purpose flour
- 1 egg (mix before fry)
- Sauce
- 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 3 garlic (finely chopped)
- Ginger (finely chopped)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- Water to dillute
- Garnish
- Sesame seeds
- Spring onion
Steps
Prepare all ingredients. Cut the chicken itu bite size, and then in a mixing bowl mix with cornstarch and white pepper. Marinade for minimum 30 minutes (I did it overnight).
Meanwhile, prepare the sauce. Mix altogether in a bowl. Then add a beaten egg and all purpose flour to the marinated chicken.
Heat the pan, put some cooking oil, and fry the chicken until it is golden brown and cooked.
Heat some oil again, now sauteé the dried chillies and onion. Next, put the sauce in, and mixed with the leftover batter (egg and flour) until it’s thickened. Last, put the chicken in and let the sauce cover all the chicken’s surface.
Garnish with sesame seeds and spring onion. Serve with hot white rice.
