General Tso's Chicken

General Tso’s Chicken is a sweet deep fried chicken dish that is commonly served in Northern American Chinese restaurant. This recipe is a combination from some fellows here. Very delicous and rich in flavour.


  1. 4 skillets chicken (cut diced)
  2. 5 dried chillies (cur half)
  3. 1 spring onion (thinly sliced)
  4. Cooking oil
  5. Marinade (min 30 minutes)
  6. Chicken
  7. 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  8. 3 tbsp cornstarch
  9. 1 tsp pepper
  10. 1 tbsp all purpose flour
  11. 1 egg (mix before fry)
  12. Sauce
  13. 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
  14. 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  15. 3 garlic (finely chopped)
  16. Ginger (finely chopped)
  17. 2 tbsp sugar
  18. 2 tbsp vinegar
  19. 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  20. 1 tsp pepper
  21. 1 tbsp cornstarch
  22. Water to dillute
  23. Garnish
  24. Sesame seeds
  25. Spring onion


  1. Prepare all ingredients. Cut the chicken itu bite size, and then in a mixing bowl mix with cornstarch and white pepper. Marinade for minimum 30 minutes (I did it overnight).

  2. Meanwhile, prepare the sauce. Mix altogether in a bowl. Then add a beaten egg and all purpose flour to the marinated chicken.

  3. Heat the pan, put some cooking oil, and fry the chicken until it is golden brown and cooked.

  4. Heat some oil again, now sauteé the dried chillies and onion. Next, put the sauce in, and mixed with the leftover batter (egg and flour) until it’s thickened. Last, put the chicken in and let the sauce cover all the chicken’s surface.

  5. Garnish with sesame seeds and spring onion. Serve with hot white rice.
