Southern French bread



  1. 2 1/4 tsp dry active yeast
  2. 1 1/4 cups warm water (120f)
  3. 3 1/2 cups bread flour
  4. 1 tsp salt
  5. 1 tbsp garlic powder
  6. 1 tbsp onion powder
  7. 1 tsp ground oregano
  8. 2 tsp sugar
  9. Olive oil
  10. 1 tbsp fresh ground black pepper


  1. Mix yeast and sugar into the warm water let set for about 10-15 minutes.

  2. Mix all dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl.

  3. Using a dough hook, mix water/yeast mixture into the dry ingredients. Knead the bread with hook for about 5 minutes. If dough is sticky add a little more flour, if its too dry add a little warm water.

  4. Use olive oil to oil a bowl, roll dough in the olive oil, cover bowl with plastic wrap and let dough rise in a warm area.

  5. Once dough has risen twice its size, punch it down.

  6. Use a little olive oil to oil a cookie sheet. Place dough on cookie sheet, cover and let rise again. Pre heat oven to 375,

  7. Bake bread for about 20 minutes.
