- 5 cups whole wheat flour
- 3 cups water (warm)
- 1.5 teaspoons yeast
- 1/3 cup brown sugar or honey
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
Add warm water to bowl and add 1/3 cup of brown sugar and yeast.
Mix 5 cups of flour with yeast and let rise for 1 to 1.5h hour.
Cut small sections ans fry in pan on low heat for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
Add butter and 2 cups of whole wheat flour and mix.
Beat flour while adding extra flour until doughy consistancy. Roughly 5-10 minutes.
Store half in a plastic tub and freeze for later.
Optional: sprinkle wheat germ or flaxseed onto dough or onto cooked toutons cut in half and spread with butter.
