Yam balls

Yam Balls make a great breakfast meal or snack and it is so delicious! 


  1. 1 kg yam
  2. 3 eggs
  3. 1/4 cup Peak Milk
  4. 6 small cubes of butter
  5. 1 small fresh paprikaScotch bonnet pepper (to taste)
  6. 2 royco seasoning cubes
  7. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  8. 1 medium onion
  9. Salt
  10. Vegetable oil for frying
  11. Before you make the yam balls
  12. Dice the peppers and onion
  13. cubes Peel and cut the yam tuber into medium
  14. Rinse the yam cubes and place in a sizeable pot


  1. Pour enough water to about the same level as the yam cubes, add the seasoning cube and black pepper and start cooking on medium heat.

  2. After 30 minutes, the yam should be soft with a little water in the pot. Add salt and the cubes of butter, stir and set aside to cool down a bit.

  3. Pour a little vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the onions and peppers for about 7 minutes.

  4. Mash the boiled yam, adding Peak Milk as you mash. You just need to mash the yam for a bit. 

  5. Add the fried peppers and onions and mix very well.Set some vegetable oil in a deep pan to heat up.

  6. Mould the mashed yam into balls and set aside.Break the eggs and whisk.

  7. When the oil is hot, coat each yam ball with the beaten egg before throwing into the hot oil. (you can coat it with bread crumbs before coating it with the beating egg) Put as many balls as you can without overcrowding.Stir often and at the first sign of browning, it is ok to take it off the oil.

  8. Serve with a chilled melon and milk drink .
