Marks and Spencer is the latest to recall a food product because an ingredient has not been included on the label.<\/p>\n
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) stated: “Marks and Spencer is recalling Plant Kitchen No Chicken and Chorizo Sandwich because it contains egg which is not mentioned on the label.<\/p>\n
“This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg.”<\/p>\n
Marks and Spencer’s Plant Kitchen is suitable for vegans. The Marks and Spencer website reads: “Whether you\u2019re going vegan, taking part in Meat Free Monday, avoiding meat and dairy or simply enjoy incorporating more plant-based foods into your diet, our Plant Kitchen range means you\u2019ll never have to compromise on taste.<\/p>\n
“Expertly developed by our chefs, every product is rigorously benchmarked so it tastes just as good or even better than its meat or dairy counterpart.”<\/p>\n

More info<\/p>\n The FSA assured customers that appropriate actions were being taken by the retailer: “Marks and Spencer is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.<\/p>\n “The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”<\/p>\n The notice read: “Customer safety is of paramount importance to Marks & Spencer and we take all issues regarding the production of our foods extremely seriously.<\/p>\n “Marks & Spencer is recalling its Plant Kitchen No Chicken & Chorizo Sandwich due to the undeclared presence of Egg.<\/p>\n “Please do not consume t his product if you have an allergy or intolerance to Egg. If you wish to exchange the product, you can return it to your nearest store where a full refund will be given.<\/p>\n “Only the displayed date code is impacted. No other M&S products are affected. We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused.”<\/p>\n Customers requiring further information have been encouraged to contact\u00a003330148555.\u00a0<\/p>\n The FSA advised: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to egg do not eat it. Instead return it to your nearest store for a full refund.”<\/p>\n
