Astrologer shares best dance-fitness style for the 12 zodiac signs

While every individual is different, the 12 zodiacs determine common traits amongst groups who share the same sun sign at their time of birth. When it comes to exercise, Mars is the “body-ruling planet” that can influence the likes and dislikes of different star signs, and an astrologer has shared the best ways to keep fit for each one.

Professional astrologer Charlotte King said: “Dance workouts are one of the best ways to replace the gym sessions and to actually have fun while being active! Benefits from trying out the dance style in alignment with your zodiac sign include unlocking and showcasing hidden skills, talents, and natural abilities that you may not yet be aware of.

“Tapping into the movement form that comes naturally to your sign and energy type gives you an extra level of expression that feels organic and effortless, keeping you connected to the fun and joy of dance while building long-term confidence in your performance and flexibility.”

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

Sensual and creative Taurus are well-suited to disco-style dancing, with electric sounds to stimulate their senses. Charlotte said: “This earth sign shows the true meaning of ground, using any kind of floor space to their advantage through travel and space in their performance.”

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

She continued: “Bubbly Gemini energy is adaptable, and dancers born under the sign of the twins have no trouble switching to a barrel turn to add an attention-winning speed change to travelling moves. Expression takes on two forms for these dancers, and whether classical or dramatic jazz, you are sure to deliver great personality.”

This “intuitive” and “sentimental” zodiac is the perfect candidate for taking up contemporary dance, which connects them to the beat and pulse of the world, and any sound that they can move their body to. According to Charlotte, improvised moves are what suit this hard-shelled, soft-centred sign that performs from the soul.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

The astrologer explained: “Leo zodiac signs belong to the element of fire, and which style of performance could be any fierier than salsa! Tight turns and cross-body leads are no issue for the self-assured lion or lioness dancer, performing even the basic step with lively animation and passion.”

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

Known for being practical, loyal and gentle, character-style dance is true to this star sign that is adept at being their authentic selves. Charlotte noted that “nothing is left to chance” when it comes to a story of expression.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

According to the astrologer, Libra zodiac dancers appreciate balance and symmetry in their performance delivery. For this reason, tap is an ideal dance style for keeping fit.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

This passionate, stubborn and resourceful sign can benefit from lyrical style dance which is renowned for its expressive nature. Charlotte said: “The emotional vault of a Scorpio is unlocked in a powerful display of feelings and moods with lyrical dance styles.

“Using levels to portray the up-and-down nature of emotions, this usually secretive sign has no problem tapping into the frequency of performance to share sensations through the beauty of movement.”

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

Vogue, or voguing, is a highly stylised, modern house dance well-suited to extroverted Sagittarius people. The astrologer noted: “Culturally intrigued Sagittarius dancers can blow away limitations and transform visions in the world of dance, with a bold display of mastery in voguing.”

Disciplined and tenacious Capricorn should look to ballet for dance fitness, and according to Charlotte, could make “significant progress” with the art through their “undeniable dedication”.

She explained: “The Capricorn dancer meets ballet face-on with unwavering focus, the very kind required to hold an arabesque for half a second longer or push through pointe work without so much as a wince.”

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

More composed and empathetic than others, ethereal Pisces seeking their perfect style of dance should look to the ballroom as a means of portraying their “natural born rhythm”. Charlotte said: “Pisces dancers are gentle, often letting their senses guide them and always willing to work with others.

“Whether performing a whimsical waltz, or a piece that takes two to tango, you’ll offer beautiful, aesthetically pleasing lines in any one of the ballroom dance styles.”

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

Those born under the ram are known for being eager, dynamic, quick and competitive, so energetic movement is key for Aries when keeping fit. Charlotte explained: “Enthusiastic, dynamic Aries dancers won’t shy away from the physical challenges of movement, and thanks to their competitive, sporty nature, they are well suited to acrobatic dance.

“As the first sign on the zodiac wheel, they consistently display athleticism through every performance, pioneering any style that requires fusion and vision.”
