I tried Nestlé’s new golden chocolate range from Aero to Milkybar

Nestlé chocolate products include favourites such as Aero, Milkybar, Munchies and Smarties. These are some of the treats that have been given a golden makeover.

The new range includes Aero Golden Honeycomb Melts sharing bag, Aero Golden Honeycomb Block, Munchies Gold Sharing Bag, Smarties Gold Buttons made with Caramac sharing bag, Milkybar Gold Buttons sharing bag and Milkybar Gold block.

“We’ve taken some of the flavours we know fans love best – caramel and honeycomb – and applied our chocolate-making wizardry to create new taste sensations,” brand manager Amy Bennett-Inge said.

“The Golden Collection features deliciously-flavoured products from four of our top sellers – Aero, Munchies, Smarties and Milkybar.”

Managing to get my hands on all the new flavours, I was most excited to try the Munchies and Smarties products.

So, what were they like?

Aero – 3/5

I started by sampling the Aero treats. They both had the unmistakable melting texture of Aero chocolate with flavourings of white chocolate.

The honeycomb flavours were subtle but definitely a winner if you want white chocolate without it being too sweet or heavy.

Aero Golden Honeycomb Melts sharing bag, RRP £1.75 and Aero Golden Honeycomb Block, RRP £1.25.

Smarties – 3/5

The Smarties collaboration with Caramac featured a blend of golden and milk chocolate. Find mini Smarties nestled in larger slabs of golden chocolate.

As a fan of milk chocolate, Smarties and Caramac, I thought this would blend together perfectly. However, while tasty, the Smarties flavour was lots in the golden chocolate.

Smarties Gold Buttons made with Caramac sharing bag, RRP £1.75.

Milkybar – 4/5

This is the only product that is already made with white chocolate, so I expected the change to be more subtle. And that was the case.

The classic Milkybar flavours were clear in both the Milkybar items, but with only a hint of caramel.

Milkybar Gold Buttons sharing bag, RRP £1.75, and Milkybar Gold block, RRP £1.25.

Munchies 5/5

The golden Munchies were highly anticipated, and they did not disappoint. The caramel inside complemented the sweet golden chocolate coating, and the biscuit cut through the sweetness – definitely something I will be reaching for again in the future!

Munchies Gold Sharing Bag, RRP £1.75.
