Carrots can be cooked in many different ways with steamed and boiled versions being the most popular.
While these methods are ideal for lovers of plain vegetables, a chef with more than a decade of industry experience has revealed a better way to cook them – in an air fryer.
Sharing her expertise on TikTok, Dempsey (@adistoirevraiet) said: “I have been a chef for over 10 years working in fine dining restaurants, all that jazz, proper posh stuff. And when I tell you that I am converted to an air fryer… it’s such a good bit of kit.
“This is my honey roasted carrots [recipe] – super simple, super easy.”
Cooking the sticky, seasoned vegetables couldn’t be easier, just start by peeling them and cutting them lengthways down the middle.

Air fryer honey roasted carrots recipe
In the video posted on her TikTok page, Dempsey started by preparing her carrots and preheating her air fryer for a few minutes at 180C.
She then put them in the appliance for 10 minutes to soften before melting a generous knob of butter in a microwave-proof bowl along with an equal serving of runny honey.
This was cooked in the microwave for around one minute until it liquidised.
After this, the chef stirred the butter and honey together and seasoned with salt and pepper.
For those using other seasonings like dried herbs, this is the best time to add them to the glaze.
Once the carrots were somewhat cooked in the air fryer, Dempsey removed them and placed them into the bowl of melted butter and honey.
She stirred them around to coat the vegetables and then returned them to the air fryer for another 10 minutes until glazed with brown tinges.
The TikTok star said: “Forget your rund little soggy carrots, we’ve got delicious, soft, crispy, sweet, sticky, delicious, caramelised carrots. And they look like something out of a goody-Gastro pub… look at them”.
